Heavy D Will Be Laid to Rest Today in Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon

One of the greatest rappers of all times will be laid to rest in Mount Vernon, New York today. Heavy D, 44, will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Grace Baptist Church.

Heavy D produced hit after hit from the late ’80’s through the ’90’s with the “Overweight Lover”, “Somebody for Me”, “Peaceful Journey” just to name a few.  He wrote lyrics that exemplified his respect for women.

Native New Yorker, Dwight Arrington Myer died last Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital. An autopsy report will be complete in a couple of weeks.

Grace Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, New York was founded by 5 black women in 1888.
