Founders’ Day! Men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Luv ya’ Bruhs!
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated was the first African American National Fraternity founded at a historically black college. The fraternity was founded at Howard University on November 17, 1911. The founders were three juniors at the university Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman and their faculty advisor Dr. Ernest Everett Just. All three men graduated with distinguished careers. Mr. Love became Bishop of the United Methodist Church; Mr. Cooper became a prominent physician and Mr. Coleman became chairman of the Department of Physics at Howard University for years; and Mr. Just became a world-renowned biologist.
